"Life is the best teacher. A teacher can teach you only so much. It is life’s twists and turns that teach by experience, help assimilate the lessons learned and bring out the best in you." – Smt. Sarita Deouskar
Ever heard of a History teacher using the art of storytelling to ensure that students remember dates and facts? Sarita Deouskar was one such teacher. An M.A. in History and a topper from the Jabalpur University in the year 1960, teaching has been her lifelong passion and profession. She symbolizes the class of teachers whom one looks up to as gurus. Her charisma and dedication towards teaching infused enthusiasm into her students by bringing historical events to life! A strict disciplinarian with a humane approach, she was a perfectionist whom students looked up to. Her thoroughness in everything she did – teaching, handling students and peers, as well as her attention to her family are worth emulating. Like a true guru, she took genuine interest in her students, not just regarding their curricular life, but also going beyond it, which is evident from their attachment to her, so many years after her retirement. Even today, she continues to guide and inspire her students with her sagely and motherly advice on the twists and turns of life’s path.
